’Stute dumped out of cup
THE IFA Intermediate Committee at a meeting on Thursday evening considered a protest received from Dergview and the observations of Institute regarding the eligibility of the player, Joe McCready, in their Coca/Cola Intermediate Cup semi-final tie, which took place at Stangmore Park.
The Committee noted that Institute in their written observations apologised for their oversight in relation to this matter. The Committee was unanimous that the player was ineligible due to a breach of Rule 13 (iii) of the competition rules as he has made in excess of 12 senior appearances this season.
The protest received from Dergview has therefore been upheld and they will now progress to the final where they will face Newry City.
Furthermore in accordance with Rule 16 of the competition rules it was also agreed that Institute be fined a sum of £100.
