Swifts stay top after thumping Seagoe

BANBRIDGE Rangers Swifts kept their place at the top off Reserve Division 3 with a 4-0 win over Seagoe Reserves in the late kick off at Cheney Park on Saturday evening.

John McCahon and Neil Wilson both managed to score again for successive games with one of the most formidable partnerships in the Mid Ulster Reserve section.

The first half wasn’t the greatest footballing spectacle with a toe poke from striker Neil Wilson on 14 minutes separating the sides at half time.

In the second period Banbridge Rangers had the advantage of being a man up after Seagoe had a player sent off for dissent. Rangers made hard work off finishing opportunities until 60 minutes when John McCahon curled in at the near post when coming in from a wide area.

The third goal for Rangers arrived five minutes later and was a contentious decision with Neil Wilson unable to keep the ball in play at the byline but the referee thought otherwise and allowed play to continue with Wilson slotting in for his second goal off the day.

Seagoe were reduced to nine men at this point for dissent in their appeal against the goal with Rangers using the advantage to run the clock down with Brian Chievers scoring with a low shot from the edge of the area. Rangers wasted possession off the ball too frequently to add to the scoreline and almost lost their clean sheet only for keeper Jonny Parkes to pull off a superb save late on.
