Team of ‘76 to mark anniversary

Carrick Rangers have arranged a very special evening to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the club’s greatest day.

Thirty five years on from one of local football’s most memorable achievements, the Rangers team which defeated Linfield 2-1 in the Irish Cup final of 1976 are to re-unite for an anniversary dinner.

The event is set to take place on Saturday, October 15 at Carrickfergus Town Hall.

Jimmy Brown, the player/manager from 1976, is set to attend along with members of both the cup winning squad and also those who played in the European adventure following the cup success when Carrick Rangers famously defeated Airis Luxembourg before playing FA Cup winners Southampton in the second round of the Cup Winners’ Cup.

Broadcaster Jackie Fullerton is the guest speaker for the evening and tickets are available to purchase for only £25, which will include a three-course meal.

If you would like to purchase a ticket please e-mail [email protected] or speak to a member of the Spirit of ‘76 supporters club on match days.
