The game started off at a steady pace, with both teams having their share of possession.

Unfortunately for Institute, Maiden City managed to unlock the Institute defence, resulting in two goals in quick succession.

Maiden City added a third shortly after half-time, but Institute picked themselves up and managed to grab a goal back through Euan Berry, who put in a magnificent effort in to get the goal. Maiden City then managed to sneak a fourth goal.

The second half was all about Institute despite Maiden City getting two goals. Institute had Maiden City pinned in their own half for a great deal of the second half.

Institute were rewarded with another goal for their hard work, this was created through brilliant link up play down the right wing by Shantell Temple and Euan Berry before Gavin Simpson put the ball in the back of the net with a superb finish.

Playing at right-back Shantell Temple showed great work rate, which caught the eyes of the Maiden City coaches. It is fair to say that Saturday’s score line does not reflect the grit and determination shown by Institute and the performance was a great example of team-work at its best.
