Ten-man Dromore U11s battle valiantly

This is the second time this season the U11s have had to endure this hampering factor. But as in the previous occasion, each kid during this game played amazing and you would never have known that Dromore U11s had a numerical disadvantage.

With the team re-jigged the defence of Ross Giles, Jordan Howard, Jamie Gregg, Oliver McLuckie and the teams leading goal scorer Jake Corbett knew they were going to be in for a tough game. As it turned out North Belfast only had one clear cut chance in the 1st half and they took it after the ball wasn’t cleared from the box, the North Belfast forward was able to drill hit home.

Half-time allowed the young Dromore team to catch their breathe and get ready for the second half. The coaches and parents were well impressed with the level of play they had witnessed and encouraged the kids to keep up their good work for the second half. The second half saw Dromore search for a goal of their own. The midfield quartet of Tom Stannage, Ben Scott, Lewis Sinclair and Aaron Hanna were working overtime running hard attacking and defending.

It would be Dromore that would have the best chances to score early in the second half. Matty Brush found himself through twice one on one with the keeper only to fluff his attempts at the crucial moments.

The best chance for Dromore came after Lewis Sinclair coolly rounded two opponents in midfield and played another through ball to Matty Brush. Again Matty Brush’s pace saw him clear the defence, this time his shot from the penalty spot rattled off the crossbar and the rebound found its way to Lewis Sinclair who had got up in support only to find his first time volley agonisingly go over the bar.

Late in the game North Belfast added a second to put the game out of reach for Dromore. As the final whistle ended the game the coaches and parents applauded the efforts of the team.

This good attitude and work ethic will stand the team in good stead for the last few games of the season.

Overall a very good team performance from Dromore U11s, with impressive displays from Matty Brush, Lewis Sinclair and Jake Corbett. Next week Dromore U11s travel to Billy Neill to play Comber Rec U11s with an 11am kick off.
