Ten man Whites suffer defeat again at PSNI

PSNI climbed out of the relegation zone by beating Lisburn Distillery 3-1 at Newforge.

The Whites, however, still need one more point to ensure Championship One football next season.

With two home matches remaining, it is unlikely that Distillery will find themselves in trouble, but they will be aiming to bounce back from back to back league defeats when they host Loughgall at New Grosvenor on Saturday.

The Whites opened the scoring on 25 minutes through Martin Jones, but that was as good as it got for the men from New Grosvenor, despite two good efforts from Colm Kirgan and Jones.

Distillery were then forced to readjust their side when first Martin Young came on for the injured Peter Sargent.

Disaster struck when the Whites went down to 10 men before half time, when Stuart Thompson was sent off with a straight red on 42 minutes.

PSNI drew level on the stroke of half time to go in at 1-1.

The second half was a case of two penalties, when PSNI were awarded two spot kicks and fired both home to take a 3-1 lead.

Berry scored both, the first on 50 minutes and the second on 56 minutes, as the second half got off to the worst possible start for the Whites.

PSNI also went down to 10 men, however, Distillery were unable to get back into the game, despite their hosts also going down to 10 men, late in the match.
