Ten-point title target for Raceview

RACEVIEW now know the extent of the task facing them in their quest to regain the Ballymena and Provincial Intermediate League title.

The Broughshane men will have to win at least three of their remaining four fixtures if they are to get their hands on the Michelin Athletic Club-sponsored championship for the second time in three seasons.

Four wins will guarantee Jason Cairns’ men the title as one of those fixtures is against title rivals Newtowne – the Limavady side’s only remaining game.

Defeat against Newtowne would put the title mathematically beyond Raceview’s reach, but if they were to avoid defeat in that game, victories in their remaining three games would see Raceview pip the north west side to the crown.

Raceview are also gunning for a league and cup double after beating neighbours Clough Rangers Athletic 2-1 in last week’s O’Gorman Cup semi-final. They now play Brantwood, who beat Newtowne in the other semi-final.

Brantwood and Newtowne meet again in the McReynolds Cup final at Allen Park, Antrim, this Friday night (6.30pm).
