A Victor Hunter XI will play a Coleraine All Star XI on Friday, August 5 at 7pm.

It’s hoped that Bannsiders fans will turn up in numbers to pay tribute to the former goalkeeper, an ex-Northern Ireland international and former club manager, who devoted 50 years of his life to the club.

What’s sure to be a fantastic evening of craic is being organised by Coleraine man Tommy Doherty with the help of Jimmy Alexander.

Admission will be just £5 and afterwards guests will gather in the Social Club to make a number of presentations to the great man himself.

Victor’s son, Barry, who works as a scout for Manchester City and former West Ham midfielder Steven Lomas, now a football pundit are both expected to play on the night.

And there could also be a few football celebrities taking part in the fun match - including a cameo appearance by Victor himself.

Tommy Doherty told Times Sport: “We will have players like Liam Beckett, Raymond McCoy, Glenn Ferguson and Felix Healy taking part and a few others.

“The game will be played over 30 to 35 minutes and we’ll get Victor on for 10 or 15 minutes too. We hope to have a few star names coming and Frankie Hiles will referee the game.

“Victor gave 50 years outstanding service to the club. He’s a great character, a real football man and I hope the Coleraine supporters come out on the night and show their support.”

Victor, 74, played for both Derry City and Coleraine and won two Northern Ireland caps between 1961 to 1963.

He managed at all levels at the club and in recent years looked after the Colts.
