Things starting to look up for Kyle

When he broke a bone in his football towards the end of last season little did he think it would be over a year before he’d get the chance to turn out in a competitive game for the Bannsiders again.

But after a few frustrating set backs for the talented defender things are starting to look up.

“It’s great to be back playing again,” Kyle told Times Sport following a run out in last week’s friendly against Letterkenny Rovers.

“It has been a frustrating season for me but I’ve kept my head down and worked hard as I know it will be worth it in the end.

“The hardest thing was getting back in a position were I could contend for a place again and then my injury reoccurring again.

“It was a massive set back for it happened not only once but twice. Physically and mentally it drains you but that’s football for you.”

It has been a long road to recovery for the 25-year-old and he admitted he found it tough to be working so hard without being able to play any football.

“It was very frustrating for me seeing the players heading to the pitch while I was stuck in the gym,” he said.

“It’s never easy having to the watch the lads play week in and week out knowing you would love to be out there, but the lads have done extremely well and deserve credit for all they‘ve achieved.”

The Coleraine man is hoping to play some part in the remaining games this season, and he admitted he would love to be involved in this Friday

’s live Sky game at home to Cliftonville.

“I would love to play some sort of a role in the last five games as it would be good to get a run out before the end of the season,” said Kyle.

“It would make all the hard work I have done worthwhile, so hopefully I’ll get that opening and use it as a chance to impress.

“I’m looking forward to the Sky game on Friday. I was on the bench against Portadown and was chomping at the bit to get on.

“The games on Sky are great to be involved in, it feels like your getting credit as a team for way you’re performing.

“Hopefully we can put in a good showing and get the three points.”
