RANGERS TRAVEL IN JJB IRISH CUP - Rathfriland Rangers this Saturday hope to travel to Newry City for their Bob Radcliffe Cup tie.

Newry though have a High Court Winding Up Order against them on Thursday by former manager Gerry Flynn so who knows where this one will end up.

This is a massive fixture for Rathfriland and hopefully it will go ahead allowing “The Whites” to pit their wits in the Bob Radcliffe Cup against the Championship contenders. Kick off 2.30pm.

Brothers Ryan, Paul and Ally Evans all starred in “The Whites” 4–0 Irish Cup win at Desertmartin. Previous sets of brothers to play for Rathfriland were The Murrays, The Bennetts and The Annetts. The Annetts were the paciest of them all!

NOT TALKING RUBBISH! - The Desertmartin / Rathfriland JJB Irish Cup clash was interesting in more ways than one. Rathfriland`s home ground Iveagh Park all started on a dump but it was interesting to learn that the Desertmartin ground started on a bog. Just one of those little interesting facts when you go to places like these in one off cup games.

A WHOLE LOT OF THRASHING GOING ON! - In the middle of the rolling countryside at the foothills of the Sperrin mountains, while Rangers were going head to head with Desertmartin in the JJB Irish Cup, a number of local farmers were thrashing in the nearby field! With the manual hay stacks, pitch forks and thrasher all in action it was like a scene from by gone days!

MEDALLING IN IT! - Congratulations to Rathfriland FC man Chub McCabe and the rest of the local lads in the Rathfriland Fire Brigade on their 20 years service. They will get their medals this Saturday – well done lads!

JUST WILLIAM! - Well done to 18 year old William Martin who scored the winner for Rathfriland Colts in their 1–0 at the weekend. Nice one!
