Thompson keeps Tech’s run going

Despite a growing injury list, Larne Tech Old Boys’ unbeaten league run now stretches to nine games after last Saturday’s narrow 2-1 home win over Orangefield Old Boys.

Tech manager Johnny Hastings said: “I’m delighted to get the win, and we were excellent in the second-half when I don’t think our goalkeeper had anything to do, though we weren’t great at the start. The first-half was as poor as I’ve seen us, but we’ve got the three points and that’s the main thing.”

Orangefield were on the march early on and took a deserved 20th-minute lead before Chris Keenan produced a top save to prevent them doubling their advantage.

Five minutes into the second-half Niall McConaghy fired in his first of the season before Lee Thompson put the Tech ahead, getting on the end of Sean Ward’s free-kick.

Tomorrow, the Tech face a trip to Immaculata.

LTOB: Keenan – Steele, R Thompson (Smyth), Wilkinson, Campbell – McConaghy, Montgomery (A Mulvenna), Barkley, Monaghan (Brownlee) – Ward, L Thompson.
