Thompson nets two goals but Dollingstown finish frustrated as Glebe pick up a point at Planters Park

Glebe arrived with a depleted panel but a gained a reward for a battling performance on a frustrating NIFL Championship Two afternoon for the hosts.

Dollingstown carved out a first opening on 17 minutes following flowing football between Adam Walker, Jordan Gibson and Richie Thompson.

Thompson, however, was unable to produce the finishing touch to the promising build-up play.

Glebe grabbed the first goal moments later as Walker’s slack backpass was intercepted by Richard Dunlop and slotted home.

A teasing Daniel Brown cross then had Dollingstown on the backfoot and close to conceding a second - but the delivery flashed across the danger zone without a final touch.

Gibson came close to an equaliser on 22 minutes but steered a shot past the post from a promising position.

Thompson proved more clinical in front of goal late in the first half as his superb volley left the sides level at the break.

Dollingstown failed to build on the momentum generated by that boost and struggled to gain control after the interval.

Glebe moved back on top around the hour mark following another defensive error - as Jake Redpath failed to cut out a crossfield pass and Jonathan Spence picked out Dunlop for the latter’s second goal.

A tactical switch by manager Gary Duke sparked a late push and Thompson made his mark to level on 75 minutes.

A last-gasp opportunity arrived when Gibson headed goalwards but the effort was pushed away to keep the sides level.
