Three in a row the target for Hamilton

Games against Ballymena United have recently been fairly predicable and that is what concerns Glenavon manager Gary Hamilton.

The Lurgan Blues have proved to be a bogey team for Glenn Ferguson’s side over the past few seasons and in August Glenavon smashed seven past them at The Showgrounds.

With only one defeat from the last seven league games, Glenavon will again start as firm favourites to reel off a third win on the trot when United come to Mourneview Park on Saturday.

“We go into the game with a bit of form but the law of averages suggests that we can’t keep beating them and they will also feel they can’t keep losing against us,” said Hamilton.

“These things tend to end at some point - hopefully it is not on Saturday. However, we will plan and focus on what we have to do and not reflect on the past. It’s another opportunity for us to keep up the recent momemtum and try and make it three wins in a row.

“Apart from the opening day of the season we have played really well but sometimes not got the results we deserved.

“I am very happy with the team at present, indeed, I feel we are a much better team now than we were this time last year. We go into every game knowing that we will be able to compete for the points.”

Kick-off is 3.00pm.
