Three is the magic number for Moore

Barn United’s first clean sheet of the season, and a second-half goal from Andrew Dummigan helped them to a 1-0 league victory over Lisburn Rangers at Stanley Park.

“It was the best performance from our defence all season – some great tackling, the boys all stood up for each other and our keeper Stephen Brennan made two excellent saves late on. Lisburn Rangers play some good football, although they also let you play football,” said Barn boss, Jum Pherson.

The only negative was a back injury to Matt McDonald in the second half, which thankfully, now doesn’t look as serious as first feared.

Barn’s 1A stablemates, UUJ, were in Border Cup action where they were beaten 4-0 away at Premier side Ards Rangers.

Also out of the Border Cup go Graham McConnell’s Wellington Rec who lost 3-2 to fellow 1b outfit 1st Bangor Old Boys at Brookvale Park. The Millbrook men started and finished the scoring, through Stephen Green’s first-half opener and Scott Todd’s late penalty.

An understrength 18th Newtownabbey Old Boys gave a good account of themselves in a 2-0 border Cup defeat at Premier side Killyleagh YC. The County Down team’s second goal came just five minutes from time.

There were more encouraging signs, too, for a Simon Hamilton inspired Kilroot Rec, but they went down 3-1 at home to Shorts. Jamie Wright got their goal.

Grange Rangers boss Paul McAllister quit his role after Saturday’s 4-0 defeat to Temple Rangers. Temple opened the scoring early in the second session and the floodgates opened, with three more added in quick succession.
