Three-sy does it as the Old Boys are in control

10th Old Boys 3

10th Old Boys were in control for much of this South Antrim League Division 2 game at Fullerton Park and came away with a 3-0 win over Sandy Row II.

They took the lead after 20 minutes through Stephen Allen at a corner kick, but that was how the score remained at half-time.

Thirty seconds into the second period 10th added a second goal with Dan Agnew on target and when the Sandy Row keeper dropped the ball Ryan Stewart was quickest to react to clinch the points for the Old Boys.

It was an entertaining game with some good football played throughout from both teams.

Afterwards, 10th manager, William Gunning, said they were not quite getting it together in the first-half, but after the break they played very well as a team.

He added: “Both teams played their part in an entertaining and enjoyable game. I would like to pay tribute to the referee who had a good game and we are enjoying life in the South Antrim League.’’

Sandy Row manager, Johnny Creaney, said they were disappointing at times, but were missing two players to the firsts. “Still we managed to play some good football, but never looked likely to score.’’

Next week’s featured match will be the Premier Division game between Warren YM and Belvoir FC at the Recreation Centre.

Holders dismissed from Cup

The Ironside Cup holders, Ballymacash YM, have been dismissed from the Ironside Cup for playing an ineligible player’

They hit ten goals without reply against their own seconds in the first round, but the League committee later ruled they had played an ineligible player.

The seconds now play 1st Lisburn II in the second round tomorrow (Saturday).

Premier Division

There was only one Premier game and Conor Hughes got two of the goals in Glaston’s 4-1 win over 1st Lisburn. Their other scorers were Paul McCann and Alan McDonnell.

Division 1

Taughmonagh YM II had an exciting 4-3 win over Colin Valley III with goals from Justin Masson, James Bell 2 and Thomas Pollock.

Sean Bremner hit a hat-trick and Jamie Mudd got two when 1st Lisburn II beat Belvoir FC II 5-1.

Orangefield OB III were 4-0 winners over Warren YM II and Cregagh Wanderers beat Woodvale YM 3-1.

Division 2

Nick Craig got two of the goals when Victoria Athletic surprised Moira Albion II 5-2. Their other scorers were Paul McCallan and Stephen Storey.

Colin Mack hit four of the goals in the 5-0 win for Ballymacash YM III over Harmony Hill. Gareth Johnston got the other goal.

Paul Ross and Matt Cullen 2 got the goals in a 3-2 win for Glenavy III over Newtown Forest III.

James Thompson 2, Darryl Saws and Jordan Johnston were the scorers when Ballymacash YM won 4-3 away to Moat Park Rangers after extra time.

South Antrim drew 2-2 away to Crumlin Star II before winning a thrilling penalty shoot-out 7-6.

Taughmonagh YM were 2-1 winners at home to Grange Rangers with Paul Hill getting both goals.

Warren YM were two goals up against Bloomfield II but lost 4-3, claiming poor refereeing decisions. Scorers were Simon Walsh and Ryan Graham 2.

Sandy Row lost 3-2 to neighbours, Dunmurry YM II.
