“Choosing to stand down at this time will give the Board ample opportunity to appoint a successor and introduce changes which are needed.

“Throughout the last 14 years there have been many disappointments but some memorable moments as well.

“The biggest highlight was obviously winning the County Antrim Shield and finally seeing a trophy come back to Ballymena.

“If we had won the Irish Cup it would have been the perfect send-off but it wasn’t to be.”

Robert has thanked the Board and Committee members he served with; the Development Committee; main club sponsor Norman McBurney and the club’s other sponsors; the management, staff and volunteers, as well as the club’s supporters for their backing during his tenure as chairman.

A successor is expected to be appointed at the club’s AGM which will take place in the Des Allen Suite at the Showgrounds on June 18 at 7.30pm.

Season tickets for next season are now on sale and the club has again frozen prices, while the ‘ear;y purchase’ initiative will also be in place until June 30.
