fellow strugglers Wakehurst and earned three vital points with a 3-2 victory.

It was the home side who came out of the blocks quickest and before Tobermore had time to settle they found

themselves two goals behind with only 10 minutes gone due to some sloppy keeping and defending.

However, to their credit Tobermore didn’t panic and came more and more into the game as the half progress with

Darren Winton and Peter Duffin once again causing all sorts of problems in the home defence. Trevor Parkhill should have done better with a close range header but the big striker made no mistake from the penalty spot on 22 minutes after Winton was chopped down inside the box.

Duffin had a great effort five minutes later when his shot from outside the box beat the keeper but was a little too high and clipped the bar.

Soon after the same player had a genuine penalty appeal dismissed by the referee, who wasn’t having one of his better days, but Winton put his side level in injury time with another well taken goal to deservedly bring Tobermore level at half time.

The second half was pretty much like the first with Tobermore creating most of the chances. Big centre forward Ally Young probably should have put Tobermore ahead just after the restart when he shook off his markers but his effort went just wide and Andy Glasgow effort 10 minutes later hit the cross bar so hard it could still be shaking.

Wakehurst had their moments but it was the visitors who always looked the most likely to score and it was no

surprise that Winton hit a screamer with about 10 minutes to go that proved to be the winner.

All in all a good day at the office for Tobermore but boss Adrian Whiteside will be hoping that his side doesn’t go to sleep for the first 15 minutes next Saturday against Linfield or the outcome could be very much different.
