Tobermore up for the Cup

TOBERMORE United will be hoping to go one step further this year as they face Institute in the Craig Memorial Cup. In last years competition, the Fortwilliam Park outfit were defeated by Limavady United in the final. Boss Johnny Law will be hoping his side can go one better this year and win the competition.

“Institute will go into the game as favourites to lift the cup on Boxing morning but I am quietly confident that we can do well on the day and hopefully repeat the recent league result we had with them at Fortwilliam.”

Tobermore have a great history in the competition and they were last victorious in 2009/2010 when they defeated Churchill in the final. If Tobermore defeat Institute on Boxing Day then they will become the joint most successful club in the competition, level with Moyola Park on six victories.

United go into the final following a mixed run of form. They were defeated by 4-1 at the weekend by Ards FC and were recently knocked out of the Irish Cup by Ballinamallard United.

However, in the last meeting between the two sides, Tobermore were comfortable 2-0 winners over Paul Kee’s side.

A large crowd is expected so the advice is to get there early.
