Top quality Angus can’t power Town to victory

With eight minutes on the clock the visitors opened the scoring when the Juniors failed to clear a dangerous ball whipped in and their striker headed home. Town were unable to bite back and Dungannon struck again four minutes later to double their advantage.

The Juniors eventually settled with Ryan Angus and Sam McAllister the driving force in midfield seeking to feed willing runner Jonny Rodgers up front.

The locals pushed hard but Dungannon had the upper hand and scored a third goal when they converted from a corner.

The second half told a much different story as the Juniors came flying out after the break. Captain Jake Laffin pushed his team up the pitch. Sam McAllister won possession and broke up attacks in the midfield and Ryan Angus sprayed passes out wide for Jonny Rodgers and Jake Dennison.

With the Juniors on the front foot, they almost had a way back into the game when Sam McAllister broke through, only for his effort to beat the keeper and the bar.

The locals were on top, and got a goal back when Angus pinged a pass over the top and right onto the toe of Jonny Rodgers who took one touch to control and a second to finish.

The Juniors fought hard for the remainder of the half but couldn’t convert their dominance into goals.

This week’s MOTM was midfielder Ryan Angus for a dominating performance in the middle of the park as he thrived at the heart of everything the Juniors did.
