Town can tame the so far unbeatable Limavady Utd

Perhaps not the most rallying of opening lines at first glance.

But considering Vady are yet to be overcome in Championship Two this season, it’s quite a claim.

United have won ten of 14 league games so far, drawing the other four. It’s quite a record.

But Town are one of the four to deny them all three points when they claimed a 2-2 draw at Roe Park earlier in the season.

They had even been ahead at half-time before the hosts rallied back to take a 2-1 lead.

Somebody has to beat them so why can’t it be us?” pondered Town boss Ryan Watson.

“They are flying at the top but we will take heart from our performance up there. On another day, we could even have held on for the win.

“We knew everyone had to play to their standard that day and they did. That’s something that we will remind them of this week.”

Town go into the game on the back of exits in both the Irish and Intermediate Cups but Watson is keen to return to form in the most astonishing of ways.

He said: “People looking in at this game will only be expecting a Limavady win. We are the underdogs but we are not to be underestimated. We can certainly give them a good test.

“Of course, it will be tough but we want to make sure we are prepared so we can ctahc them unawares.”

Banbridge will go into the game without defender Stephen Jones, who came off during the first half of Saturday’s Intermediate Cup defeat to Nortel with a recurrence of a hamstring injury.

“He has been struggling with this all season,” said Watson.

“We thought he was over this one but he’s likely to be out for another few weeks.

“Other than that, we should have a full squad. Stephen McCreanor has been working well with the lads and got them into good shape. It’s paying off for us now with good options to choose from.”
