The club are holding an EGM for their members on Thursday evening to “receive an up-to-date report on the financial standing and to consider which of a range of actions may be in the best interests of the club moving forward.”

Whatever decision is made, Cully has appealed for the local community to throw their backing behind Banbridge Town more now than ever before.

He said: “The club needs fresh blood and needs restructured, that’s the reality of it.

“We need to regenerate an interest. It’s vitally important that the local community and tradesmen of the town get behind the club.

“We have appealed for support in the past but we need it now more than ever. The club will welcome any financial input. It will be required, there’s no question about that.

“We need the community to get behind the club that has been there since 1947. We need financial help and practical help to run the club as well.”

Cully appealed for a full turnout from club members for Thursday’s meeting.

“It’s a members’ club and at the end of the day, it’s down to the members to decide what course of action they want to take,” he said.

“There are a number of options open to them and they need to decide what they want.

“We have to look to build the club for the future. We need to sit down and weigh up what is best for the club.

“It’s an important meeting for the club and it’s important that we get a good attendance from the members.

“There was a financial report given at the AGM last June and this is a review of our overall position.

“They say we’re coming out of a recession but that doesn’t filter its way down to football as it’s probably not on people’s priority list.

“The costs of running any clubhouse are increasing.”

The meeting is at 8pm at the club’s premises.
