Town U14s in 10 goal thriller

TOWN Juniors Under 14s hosted Lower Maze at Banbridge Tech last Saturday and took the game to visitors from the first whistle to last in a ten goal thriller.

The locals settled well playing a good passing game throughout and took the lead on 10 minutes when Caleb Schiess found Jordan Walker who latched on to a fine cross to make it 1-0.

This goal rattled Lower Maze and the Juniors doubled their lead after 20 minutes when a fine route one ball from Town keeper Conor Ward found lively winger Jake Dermott who smashed the ball into the back of the net.

With Town now fully in the ascendancy Jordan Walker made it three as he took a superb ball with his back to goal, and with fantastic movement, spun to the side and smashed the ball into the top corner leaving the keeper with no chance.

The second half began with Lower Maze coming hard at the Juniors back line in search of a lifeline in the game.

They were handed a chance after they were awarded a soft penalty, which they converted to make the score 3-1.

This lifted Lower Maze as they then scored a second goal on the 19th minute, however any chance of a comeback was thwarted by Jordan Walker who completed his hat trick after he cheekily back heeled the ball into the corner of the net after a pin point cross from the right wing to make the score 4-2.

A sixth goal then followed through Jake Dermott getting his second of the afternoon when he latched on to an uncleared ball and finished well.

This wasn’t to be the last action however, as Lower Maze came back and found two more goals to take the gloss of a fine performance by the Juniors. This week’s man of the match was hat trick hero Jordan Walker.
