Town U16s left to reflect on missed chances
Playing into the wind in the first half Lurgan started well and Shane Russell hit their opponents side netting early on.
The boys defended well initially and a further chance was created from the back when big centre Half Curtis Cassels fed Neil Allen who in turn played in Kevin McAlinden whose shot beat the keeper but not the post.
Unfortunately for Lurgan Dromara then broke and their forward struck the ball beyond stand-in goalkeeper Ryan Smyth.
Lurgan stuck to the task and drew level when a good ball from Cassels to McAlinden allowed him to play a measured ball to Cian Murtagh, Cian drove directly at Dromara’s goal and placed his shot into the far corner to equalise.
Michal Lisowski replaced Sidnei Tavares at the start of the second half and Lurgan hoped to capitalise on having the wind with them.
However Dromara had different ideas and rocked the boys with two quick breaks and goals to put the opposition 3-1 up.
Despite this Town worked hard to get back into the contest but luck and decisions just didn’t go for them. Typical of this was when Russell had the goal at his mercy only a few feet out but put the ball wide.
Lurgan did pull a goal back with five minutes to go with a lovely lob over the keeper by McAlinden but despite pushing forward for an equaliser Dromara held on to take the points.
Squad: Smyth, Allen, Woolsey, Cassels, Judge, Hoy, Tavares, Russell, McAlinden, Murtagh, Hagan, Lisowski.
