The Times understands the Sky Blues have made an approach for the 27-year-old and discussions between the two parties are due to take place before the transfer deadline later today.

Larne chairman Archie Smyth told the Times: “It would break my heart to see Ciaran go. He has been a prolific goalscorer for Larne.

“If he goes to Ballymena it will certainly boost their striking options and perhaps help them lift themselves out of the relegation zone.

“Ciaran is an ambitious player and we wouldn’t stand in his way if he is given the chance to play in the Premiership.”

Murray joined Larne from Amateur League side Immaculata and in recent weeks officials have dismissed rumours linking him with a move away from the Inver Park club.

Murray was top scorer last season and has bagged six from five starts this term.

Over the weekend, Larne boss Davy McAlinden told the club’s website that he does not expect to make any more new signings ahead of the transfer deadline.
