Trio impressive during victory

Kee was also pleased that trio Corey Hegarty, Ryan Semple and Robbie Hume all got some game time under their belts and not only that, but they also performed well, with Hume also getting himself on the score-sheet.

“It was comfortable enough but credit to Tobermore because they keep playing, they don’t lie down and you need to break their resolve,” stated Kee.

“We had a good start to the game for us and it was a good finish from Michael McCrudden but I thought we just lacked a bit of edge in our game.

“We had a fair amount of control and they didn’t really threaten us but we lacked that edge. But we controlled the game and our back four defended well because Tobermore have a never say die attitude.”

“It was a comfortable 2-0 win but the most important thing was to get people games such as Ryan Semple and young Corey Hegarty who gave a good account of themselves.

“And Robbie Hume is starting to come strong for us. He’s always been a player with great ability and talent and it’s now about getting him into a routine and an understanding at what’s required at this level.

“So it was pleasing for him to get the second goal because that was an important one in terms of the result.”

The Waterside man continues to get annoyed that his side sometimes take their foot off the pedal when they have so much control of a game and he felt that was the case at the weekend.

“We had a fair amount of control and they didn’t threaten us a lot but there was a bit of complacency creeping in to our play.

“That’s been the trend, particularly at home. The first half teams coming here tend to put it up to us, they’re physical, and they chase all the time.

“At half-time we have to galvanise our players and show a bit of character and concentration and I thought we controlled most of the game and our back four defended well in the second half.”

Kee also believes that midfielder Aaron Walsh is starting to find his feet again, after returning from injury recently and he was pleased that Joe Gray again showed all his experience and didn’t look out of place at right-back.

“Walsh is back now a couple of games and he’s been very instrumental to what we’re doing offensively and defensively,” he added.

“He takes up good positions and gets in a lot of interceptions. He possesses good qualities and he’s a very creative players. He’s in good form for us and he was one of the stand out players on Saturday so long may that continue.

“Joe Gray slotted in well at right back and he’s comfortable there. He’s a good option to have with Sean Roddy. We have good options defensively.

“Joe has good concentration and he is good in the air and then we have Sean who is a good attacking right back who gives you good options going forward. Roddy has a bit of an injury at the minute so the likelihood is that Joe will come in there in the next game as well.”
