Trio off to Venice, Town trials and Amateurs to hold fun day

There will be a local contingent of players in Harry McConkey’s Northern Ireland Regions Cup squad heading to Venice next week for the 2013 finals.

Loughgall defender Jeff Brady, from Lenaderg joins Ards winger Ryan Moffatt and Chris McGrath, who recently joined Warrenpoint Town, are in the squad.

The UEFA Regions’ Cup is Europe’s top competition for amateur sides.

First up for Northern Ireland, who are in Group A, will be hosts Veneto (Italy) on Saturday 22 June (Abano Terme - kick-off: 5.30pm), followed by a game against Keleti Régió (Hungary) on Monday 24 June (Piove di Sacco – kick-off: 5.30pm). They will then take on Qarachala (Azerbaijan) on Thursday 27 June (Este – kick-off: 5.30pm).

The Final will be played at the Stadio de Monteortone in Abano Terme on Saturday 29 June.

- Banbridge Town Football Club will be holding an open trial on Friday June 21 at Cheney Park starting at 8pm, for players aged 16-21.

- Dromore Amateurs Youth are to hold their annual trials and fun day this Saturday at Ferris Park.

Kicking off with the trials at 10am, all current and prospective players are welcome. Please bring any friends interested in football.

The club are looking for players born from 1997 to 2006 and those coming along are asked to wear trainers and suitable clothing.

After the hard work the fun starts at 12pm. • Open to the public, the fun day will have bouncy castles, sumo suits, an assault course, a bungee run, slide, rodeo bull, face painting and more.
