Trophies keep on coming for Carniny Youth sides

Despite their domestic seasons now at an end for Carniny Youth’s teams, two sides remained in action at Inivational Tournaments last Saturday.

Carniny Youth Under 12s who won the Ards Youth Borough Cup last Saturday.

In action were Carniny Under-11s and 12s who will both be representing the club at the Foyle Cup in July.

Firstly the Under 12s were in top form, winning their second trophy of the season when they won the Ards Youth Borough Cup tournament beating Dungoyne in the final.

Also in action were the Under 11s who had accepted an invite to compete in the Ridgeway Festival with teams from, Coleraine, Ardoyne, Sion Mills, Dublin and Ridgeway themselves all taking part.

The Under 10s wrapped up their season with an end of year fun day that included Karting, bowling and of course a little bit of football!

UNDER-12

After topping their group with four wins out of four, Carniny ran out 2-0 winners in the semi final against the hosts, Ards Youth, and set up a final against Dungoyne from the South Belfast Youth League.

Carniny took a first half lead when Kirk hit a fine strike from outside the box to gave the keeper no chance.

In the second half, Dungoyne missed a penalty before Dane Archer killed off the tie tucking home a left foot strike and Kieran O’Boyle sealed with a strike high into the net.

Carniny: Parker, Ervine, Close, Winter, Clyde, Neeson, O’Boyle, Stewart, J Logan, Courtney, Archer, Gordon, G Logan, Kirk.

UNDER-11

Carniny continued to impress at 11 aside in the Rideway Festival. They remained unbeaten with man of the tournament Farquhar getting 5 goals from centre back position. They even beat the eventual winners of the festival Ridgeway very convincingly 4-1.

Their local rivals Coleraine managed a draw against Carniny after being under long periods of pressure and their goalkeeper pulling off some magnificent saves.

Carniny had a great performance against a very good Leicester Celtic team from Dublin and again should have won if it wasn’t for an optimistic long range effort that looped over the keeper.

The group then headed to the Sportsbowl for lunch, and a highly competitive game of bowling. The team also had the chance to play pool and other amusements. The team wishes to thank the Raceview Go Karting, and the Sports Bowl for a wonderful day.
