Two tough games for Under 10s

The first of two games for Lisburn Distillery U-10s was a game against a very good Willowbank team. Both teams cancelled each other out in the first period but Bradley White was his usual power house in his defence, and he still had time to make an outstanding break through midfield which ended up with a shot over the bar.

The highlight of the first period came from between the sticks when a powerful shot from distance seemed destined for the top corner until Xander Power tipped it over for a corner with a outstanding save. The second period was when the Whites found their feet with the goal of the season so far, Kenzie Bradley picked the ball up in his own half, skipped past at least four players with speed and outstanding skill, with only one defender left to beat he looked up and with an exquisite pass picked out Jonathan McCullough who blasted the ball low past the sprawling keeper for a superb goal.

Jack Bonar was producing his usual powerful performance and his hard work paid off as he slotted the ball home from distance. Overall the team from front to back put in an excellent performance which was a joy to watch.

The second game was against Premiership Academy side Cliftonville but the boys didn’t let the big name put them off and indeed they played football of the highest quality. The scoring was opened by Jake Donaghy who finished superbly after a flowing back to front movement which was started by the excellent Spencer Maxwell. Against the run of play Cliftonville scored two goals after the defence left each other to deal with the situation. The Whites then threw the kitchen sink at the Reds. All round a good team performance but the boys will have to try and cut out the individual errors which lets teams into games.
