The U11s started their first 11-a-side game against a big physical Limavady side but didn’t let that stop them from competing valiantly.

From the start, with a 4-4-2 shape, the backline of Sean Monaghan, Mark Carleton, Dominic O’Neill and Paul Monaghan mustered a solid and consistent game, proving that are capable in the full format.

The backs and the midfield of Peter Bell and Caleb Rob soaked up a bombardment of attacks from the visiting team. Their endeavour and commitment was rewarded in a break when Bell hit a fierce shot from 30 yards which the keeper not able to stop, making it 1-0 at halftime .

The second half saw Limavady launch a serious of attacks and shots and they duly wiped out the deficit. The Cookstown side, inspired by man of match Eoghan Donnelly, were up for the game right through to extra time at 1-1 and the game finished with penalties to decide the knockout cup tie.

It was the home side which proved to be the stronger, Peter Bell, Terry Devlin, Mark Carleton, Sean Monaghan and Zach Ferson scoring all five with Limavady missing one to end a thrilling game for all the parents, Cookstown 5-4 winners progressing to the third round of the N.I.Cup in their first year.
