U16s sparkle at home to Hillsborough

TOWN Juniors Under 16s hit five goals in a sparkling performfance against Hillsborough on Saturday morning.

The locals started brightly and scored their first on 15 minutes as Davy Gray made good work down the left and played in Josh Cargin who was brought down in the box for a penalty and Josh scored the resulting kick.

The remainder of the half was an evenly fought contest with William Maxwell saving a low shot to his right that really was the only piece of danger to the Town’s defence.

The second half was just five minutes old when after a series of corners Davy Gray scored direct with an in swinging corner that sailed into the top corner.

Banbridge were now on top and extended their lead when Decky Loy won a header and released Josh Buchanan who drew the home defence before sending Josh Cargin through who cooly lobbed the keeper.

With 15 minutes to go after fine inter play Josh Cargin found himself in on goal and he fired past the keeper from 12 yards.

The fifth goal wasn’t long in coming and again after good play in midfield as Andrew Martin out paced the defender to find the back of the net from 10 yards to put the Town safely through to the semi finals.
