U16s turn on the style with super show

Bann Rangers U16s 7

Lower Maze U16s 1

After Banbridge Rangers got back to winning ways last weekend, they really turned on the style with this dominant performance against Lower Maze.

Right from the first whistle Rangers put the Lower Maze defence under pressure. The resulting corner was whipped in by Dean McIlvena, with the both players and fans surprised to see Bradley Harper on the end of it with a powerful header past the keeper.

Rangers went 2 up five minutes later when Harper played a defence splitting pass to David Barr who slotted the ball past the keeper.

Bradley Harper then got his second when Matthew Smylie played the ball through to Harper who took a touch on the edge of the box and volleyed the ball into the bottom corner.

A minute later Matthew Smylie was on the scoresheet himself, he dribbled past two Maze defenders and cut in from the left onto his right foot and hit the ball low and hard past the keeper from 25yards out.

Rangers fifth came just before half time, a free kick taken by Matthew Dodds from 35yards out was struck sweetly and looked destined for the back of the net only to come back off the post. Reuben Cobb was quickest to react and passed the rebound into the net to make it 5-0.

Lower Maze then got on the score sheet 15 minutes into the second half. Rangers had not finished yet and when they won a Free Kick, they saw it as a chance to get their sixth.

Up stepped Bradley Harper who whipped the ball to the far post with Ryan Woods timing his run perfectly to nip in front of the keeper and heading the ball into the net.

With five minutes left Rangers finished off scoring with the move of the match when Simon McAlister played a neat one two with Jason Treanor and then played the ball through to Andrew Trimble who smashed the ball into the far corner.
