United beaten in Foyle Cup opener

United felt aggrieved for the Belfast side’s first goal, when they believed Jack Millar had been fouled in the build-up, but there was no whistle and the Seaview side took the lead, before settling the contest with a second goal in the second half.

The Sky Blues will hope to get their campaign back on track when they play Donegal side Milford today (Prehen playing fields, 5pm).

All the other Ballymena-based teams in the competitions start their campaigns today, with Carniny Youth under-11s taking on Ballymoor (Magee College, 1pm), while their under-12 colleagues face South Donegal Schoolboys at Bready (3pm).

Ballymena United under-41s face Shankill Youth at Prehen (5pm), while in the under-16 section, Wakehurst Youth take on Everton America at Templemore (7pm).
