United hit Larne for six in friendly

BALLYMENA United’s Premiership class shone through at Inver Park on Wednesday evening as they smashed six goals past Larne in a pre-season friendly.

Alan Teggart opened the scoring with a free-kick before Jordan Baker added a second shortly before the half-hour mark. Five minutes later the ball dropped kindly to Gary McCutcheon and he made no mistake in guiding the ball past Larne stopper Darren Gibbons

LArne’s Adam Dick scored what turned out to be the home side’s only goal of the game from the penalty spot before the interval.

After the break McCutcheon smashed home a superb volley to make it 4-1 and Conor Downey added to the goal blitz when he fired home a with a blistering drive into the top right-hand corner.

A Jamie Marsh own goal rounded off the rout for Roy Walker’s men.

Next up for Larne FC: Amateur League side Wellington Rec at Inver Park on Saturday. Kick-off 2pm.
