United Legends put out to ‘Pasture’ in annual fixture!
Ballymena United Legends XI were narrowly defeated by Green Pastures in Wednesday night’s charity fixture at the Showgrounds.
Will McDowell put Green Pastures ahead, with Nigel Boyd scoring an equaliser for the Legends team.
Boyd then played a poor backpass allowing the opposition to go back into the lead, before Philip Knell pulled the Legends level again. An own goal made the scoreline 3-2 to the Legends but the Green Pastures side levelled before securing a late winner with the result 4-3 to Green Pastures. In recent years Ballymena United have facilitated a high profile local encounter involving the church, with this becoming a regular fixture. The match was well supported and those in attendance thoroughly enjoyed the occasion.
