UPDATE: Larne sack manager Kincaid

The news comes after The Reds’ 6-0 defeat to Ards in the fourth round of the Steel and Sons Cup on Saturday.

Kincaid was appointed boss at Inver Park for a second time in May. The club are second-bottom of Championship 1 with two points from four games.

After the match Larne chairman Archie Smyth told the Times: “We have just sacked the manager and we will have to go back to the drawing board.

“We expected better and didn’t get it and even back as far as pre-season we just haven’t been doing it. Ultimately, the manager has to pay the price. We wanted to see how today went and we had to plan ahead.””

Kincaid, for his part, was very diplomatic in his comments after the game. “I told the players after the game that I was going to think about it over the weekend but, before I had time to think, the chairman called me to the side and said it was over and it wasn’t good enough.

“I had a lot of time for the players and we had to put up with a lot of things during the season. The players didn’t do themselves justice and didn’t get a rub of the green but it is a results-based business and that is how it goes,” he said.

Larne found themselves three down inside 24 minutes against Ards. After a good start to the second half, Ards upped the pace and, helped by some defensive blunders, ran out easy winners.
