VIDEO: Rebekah is '˜head' girl among United fans

It wasn't just Ballymena United's players who caught the eye with their skills during Tuesday night's Toals County Antrim Shield final win over Linfield.

Supporter Rebekah Reynolds also dazzled with her technique in an unlikely moment of glory during the final at the national stadium at Windsor Park.

It came with the game still scoreless when United’s David Cushley miscued a shot over the crossbar.

As the ball dropped towards the Ballymena fans behind the goal at the Railway End of the ground, Rebekah casually got up out of her seat and produced a textbook header to nod the ball back towards the pitch, to loud cheers from the Ballymena fans around her.

Rebekah’s memorable moment was captured by BBC TV and the clip was widely viewed on the corporation’s social media platforms.

Rebekah’s technique won’t have come as a surprise to many people in the local area - she is accomplished footballer herself and was at the match during a trip home from America, where she is on a soccer scholarship.

Ballymena’s victory over the Blues capped a memorable start to the multi-talented local woman’s sporting new year - she was also a member of the Ballymena Hockey Club First XI which lifted the Ulster Senior Cup on January 2.
