Stars from yesteryear rubbed shoulders with the current crop of players as the Taylor’s Avenue outfit took a trip down memory lane.

Former Kilmarnock boss Kenny Shiels, who guided Carrick to a County Antrim Shield win in 1993, was in attendance, as was ex-Northern Ireland international Michael Hughes. Gary Prenter, the man whose goals sunk Linfield in the never-to-be-forgotten Irish Cup final victory in 1976, stood side by side with modern day hero Paul Heatley as members of the Carrick’s ‘Greatest Ever XI’ took to the stage.

The evening, which was a credit to its organisers, was compered by Sky Sports reporter Paul Gilmour and the BBC’s Jackie Fullerton.
