Wakehurst suffer another defeat

WAKEHURST couldn't turn their poor run of form around on Saturday as Sport and Leisure came to Castledawson and left with all three points in a Ladbrokes.com Championship Two match.

Ian Gregg’s men were hoping to build on a fine 1-0 midweek win over landlords Tobermore United, but fell behind after eight minutes to a good effort from just inside the box by Ciaran Murray which found its way over the Wakehurst ‘keeper.

It got worse for Wakehurst before the interval when a gap opened up in the penalty area which allowed Anthony O’Neill to get away a quick shot which was enough to put the away side two nil up.

On 55 minutes a Wakehurst corner bounced about in the away box and Paul Borelan pulled a goal back with a an overhead kick.

Shortly after Stevie Mellon could have got the equaliser but, after being put through, crashed his shot into the opposition keeper.

Substitute Neil Cork fired again on 90 minutes to kill the game off from just inside the box. 3-1 Sport & Leisure.
