Walker snatches late point

Town Juniors Under 15s entertained Lower Maze at Cheney Park on Saturday and produced a performance that would get anyone out their bed to come and watch.

The game started at a frantic pace, with both sides fighting for control of the match. The local boys were the quickest to settle on their home turf, with Jordan Walker dictating the play from the heart of the Juniors midfield from start to finish.

Maze tried to play on the counter but the Juniors’ back five defended well with centre-backs Adam Dickson and Ryan Jones keeping their strikers in check.

With the game 11 minutes old, Jake Dennison laid the ball back into Jordan Walker’s feet . He controlled and sprayed a pass forward which looped right onto the foot of the running Liam Farrell who controlled and poked the ball under the keeper.

Maze settled and began to attack the Juniors, finding an equaliser on 17 minutes when Maze sprung the offside trap and ran through to score and level it up. Maze grew in stature from the goal and had a period of increasing pressure.

They managed to find a goal to put them in the driving seat. A mix up at the back gave away possession and the Maze winger whipped in a cross which floated across into the net to make it 2-1 at half-time.

The second half began with Juniors making some enforced changes due to injury, and still chasing the game. A fired up Juniors came flying at Lower Maze, producing some thrilling end to end football.

Maze got pushed further and further back and the Juniors controlled the game once again, forcing the visitors to play on the break. The locals were playing some thrilling stuff down the right, with stand in right back Liam Farrell linking up with captain Owen Byrne, and the equaliser wasn’t far off the horizon.

The Juniors committed men forward and won a free on the half way line. Adam Dickson launched the ball up field, which Maze failed to clear and it found Jordan Walker who volleyed in left footed from six yards.

The Juniorswere rampant but time wasn’t on their side in their search for a winner.

Town’s MOTM was Jordan Walker, who dictated the game from start to finish, capping it off with the equaliser.
