Wanderers aiming forIrish Junior cup glory

THE weather wreaked havoc with some fixtures last Saturday, there were two games played in the Premier Division, Lincoln Courts moved to the top of the table after their win over Sion although they have more games plated then the pursuing pack.

BBOB’s season just goes from bad to worse losing at home to Drummond while in the Junior Cup Caw won their local derby by the only goal of the game against Glendermott, its back to league action this Saturday in the Premier Division, Foyle Wanderers travel to take on St Mary’s in the Coca/Cola Irish Junior Cup and there are three games in the Matt Morrsion Junior Cup.

St Mary’s v Foyle Wanderers

The men from Magheramason fly the flag for the North West, they have had some excellent results in previous rounds although their league form has bee inconsistent, they lost heavily in the Junior Cup last week.

The home side are based in Portadown and have knocked out a few fancied sides previously, they are reportedly a strong physical side and with home advantage they will go into this one as favourites.

Prediction: St Mary’s.

Matt Morrison Junior Cup

Newbuidings United Res v West Bann

The home side are having a good season but they would dearly love to have silverware at the end of it, they are continuing to bring young players through their ranks and they are one of the best organised clubs in the North West.

Their opponents play in the competitive Coleraine league altough their record in this competition isn’t good, the home side should win this one.

Prediction: Newbuildings United Res.

Kilrea v Ardmore

The home side have a decent record in this competition and at home they are very consistent, they have a settled side who are having a decent season in their league.

Damien McGee has his side playing with great confidence and this with an almost all local side, their main aim is to get promotion but they will want to progress in this cup.

Premier Division

BBOB v Maghera Strollers

Things don’t get any easier for the Old Boys as they face one of the favourites to lift the title, they lost again last week and a complete revamp is needed.

The Strollers won in the Junior Cup last week their first game since the Christmas break although they struggled but they should be to good for Don Olphert’s side.

Prediction: Maghera Strollers.

Roe Rovers v Lincoln Courts

Both of these side are title contenders, the Roesiders have games in hand over some of the sides above them but they know that points on the board is what counts.

The Courts went to the top of the table after last weeks win but in some games they have not played well and they have lost games that they would have expected to win, this one could end all square.

Prediction: Score Draw.

Sion v Greysteel

The Tyrone men are one of the favourites for the drop, they will always give their all but some of their players are just not good enough, that said they are always difficult to beat at home.

Greysteel are another inconsistent side although to be fair to them they have not always been at full strength, if they get their side out they should progress.

Burndennett v Dungiven Res

The Tyrone men have struggled all season even their home ground that a few seasonsv ago would have been a fortress is no longer that.

Dungiven play some good football and they can be well pleased as to how they have performed so far, they may collect the points.
