Warren charge toward title

PREMIER DIVISION

Warren YM took another step towards the Premier Division title with a 5-1 win away to Braniel YM thanks to a brace from Matt Donaghy and goals by Stuart Knight, Dave Flanagan and Colin Chapman.

Ballymacash YM stayed close behind with a 4-1 win over Orangefield OB III with Colin Jamison, James Campbell and James Thompson 2 scoring. Bobby Moore got the Orangefield consolation score.

Glaston’s chances took a knock when they lost 3-2 at home to Belvoir FC. Alan McDonnell and an own goal made up the Glaston total.

DIVISION one

Smith smiling as FC win

Stephen Smith, the man of the match, kept on smiling when he scored his first ever goal for FC Utd Lisburn in the 8-0 win over Moira Albion II in Division 1.

The other scorers were Simon Hall 2, Tommy Roy 2, Dale Worsfold, Andy Doran, and Lewis Irwin.

Clonduff YM moved closer to the title with a 4-0 win over Victoria Athletic. Scorers here were John Greer, Lee Finlay, Craig Martin and Dee Moore. Belvoir FC II and Stranmillis II drew 1-1.

DIVISION two

Braniel seconds steady the ship

Braniel YM II have had a few bad results recently in Division 2, but they steadied the ship with an 8-1 win over Glenavy III. Goals from Lewis Irwin 3, Nathan Warnock 3 and William Sunstrum 2 put them back on track.

Leaders, Clonduff YM II, need the only goal from Stephen Walker to see off Ballymacash YM III and there was an early finish when the referee appeared to give up, despite no provocation, and called a halt on 65 minutes with Cregagh Wanderers leading FC Utd Lisburn II 3-1.

OTHER MATCHES

Gordon Hanna Trophy back in action

The Gordon Hanna Trophy got back to action with Lisburn Athletic winning 3-1 away to Carrowdore YM in the first round thanks to goals from Chris Dickson, Vinny Robinson and Steven Tierney.

Sandy Row beat Warren YM II 8-0 in the second round with goals from Terence Morrison 3, Dean McAllister, Curtis Moorhead, Paul Hill, Colin Cooper and Jonny Curry.

In the Supplementary Cup Ballynafeigh YM beat Lambeg Rangers 4-2. Scorers for the winners wereMark McFadden, Jonny Horwood, Thomas Horwood and Dale Thompson. Chris Brady and Colin Higginson replied.

In the Supplementary Plate, Clarawood YM were 2-1 winners over Ballymacash YM II. Martin Montgomery and Darren McGibbon got their goals.

Luke Eastwood hit a hat-trick when First Lisburn shocked South Antrim with a 5-0 win. Chris Weir and Jamie Mudge got their other goals.

Lambeg Rangers II were 5-0 winners over Newtown Forest III in the Division 2 Cup. John Bremner got four of them and Justin Snodden the other one.
