Warrington Town visitLisburn for Peace Cup

ENGLISH Club Warrington Town Football Club will visit Lisburn tomorrow (Saturday) for their annual Peace Cup match with Crewe United.

This annual fixture played in alternate years in Lisburn and Warrington hasn’t been very successful for Crewe as last year in Warrington the Glenavy club suffered a heavy defeat and in the first fixture at Crewe Park two years ago they lost by a 6-3 margin.

However, the English club are semi professional and in the early part of their season. They will also play in the early round of the F.A. Cup.

Crewe are hopeful that this year they will be able to give their visitors a more competitive game.

“It is a massive task,” explained Club Chairman Tom McKenna. “But hopefully one of these years the Peace Cup will be resident in Lisburn.” The Warrington team fly in today (Friday) and tomorrow will have a reception at the Civic Centre before going on to see the Glenavon v Linfield game at Mourneview Park.

The Peace Cup match is at Crewe Park tomorrow evening with a 6.45pm kick off.
