Waterside men get second chance

LINCOLN Courts, having lost in the previous round to Barrowfield were reinstated and booked their place in the last eight with a 3-2 home win against Ardoyne Working Men's Club.

They left it late with the winner coming in the last minute of extra time, this after being two goals down, and their scorers were Patterson, Hamilton and Hay. They now travel on Saturday to Belfast based side Ford; this weekend also sees the next round of the City Cup.

Ford v Lincoln Courts

The home side play in the competitive Belfast Amateur League, they have knocked out a couple of decent sides in earlier rounds and with home advantage they will start as favourites.

The Courts left it late last week but with quality throughout the side they will not be overawed, they have a couple of match winners in Kolyn Patterson and Steven Mooney - this match go to extra time.

Prediction: Lincoln Courts.

City Cup

Tullyally Colts v Claudy Rovers

This gives the home side the opportunity to take a Premier division scalp, they are a very difficult side to beat at home with a good support guaranteed.

Rovers suffered a heavy defeat in the Junior cup last Saturday but that was against Newtowne. They should find this one a bit easier and may go through.

Prediction: Claudy Rovers.

Maghera Strollers v Ardmore

The Strollers got back to winning ways last week, they fancy themselves to go close to winning one of the cup competitions this season and they can't complain about a home draw.

Ardmore's main aim this season was to get promoted. Although they still have a chance as they have a number of games in hand over the sides above them they may find promotion beyond them.

Prediction: Maghera Strollers.

Foyle Wanderers v Donemana

There is a good rivalry between these two sides, the Wanderers are still in the race for promotion and Wayne Glenn will not be happy if that is not achieved.

The visitors are scoring plenty of goals and they would dearly love a win here, but that may not happen.

Prediction: Foyle Wanderers.

Newtowne v Draperstown Reserves

What price the Limavady men doing a clean sweep of all the domestic trophies? They just seem so far ahead of any other team in the North West and must be thinking of moving into intermediate football.

The visitors are rooted at the bottom of the Premier division and will surely end their interest in this competition.

Prediction: Newtowne.

Burndennett v Claudy United

Premiership against First Division in this one: the Tyrone men are well behind in their league fixtures because of postponements so they will be anxious that this one goes ahead.

United are having a very ordinary season but they have a settled side who enjoy their football.

Prediction: Burndennett.

Glendermott v Roe Rovers

The Waterside men find themselves at the bottom of the table in the second division. They have to be admired though as they are always able to get a side on the field.

Prediction: Roe Rovers.

Churchill United Res v Dungiven Reserves

The Wilton Park side are a fairly young side who although results haven't been good always try to play football, their opponents are also a mixture of youth with a few old heads and they may win this one.

Prediction: Dungiven Reserves.

Eglinton v Newbuildings United Res

There could be a shock here as Second Division Newbuildings are having an excellent season which could well see them promoted.

The Villagers are a bit inconsistent but at home they will be difficult to beat.

Prediction: Newbuildings United Res.

Park v Caw

The home side have really hit form since the Christmas break; they will be disappointed that their form wasn't there in the early part of the season.

The visitors after a tremendous first half of the season are starting to show a little bit of a loss of form; their main aim is still the Second Division title.

Prediction: Park.

Ballykelly v BBOB

For one of the few times this season the Old Boys will go into a game as favourites; they still have a couple of quality players in their ranks but unfortunately not enough.

Ballykelly at home a number of seasons ago would have been a difficult place to go but alas no longer.

Prediction: BBOB.

Burnfoot v Sion Swifts
