Ryan Watson’s side ended up in 11th spot in the Championship Two league table having lost half of their 28 league matches.

“It was disappointing but it came to a stage during the second half of the season when we were on a bad run that we knew we just had to make sure we got to safety,” said boss Watson, who had watched his side slump to a run of seven league games without a win throughout February and March.

“We had to stay in this league. That was very important. At one stage I said we were in the relegation battle but we had enough about us to make sure weren’t dragged right down in. We wanted to get a bit of a foothold back into things again and get a bit of confidence built back up to bring into next season.

“We had our fair share of injuries and suspensions over the season. It was tough and I was just glad to get it finished at the end.”

The club will carry some painful memories forward from the 14/15 season but they are already planning for the year ahead.

There were some bright spots too, not least taking four points off eventual champions Lurgan Celtic and seeing the emergence of a number of promising young stars such as David Gray and Adam Dennison.

They will be a big part of the club’s future, particularly if the manager’s plans are to come to fruition.
