Waveney finish with a flourish

WAVENEY Youth FC finished their first season on a high with a 7-2 victory over a spirited Carnmoney Colts.

After a slow start Waveney got into their stride and eventually took the lead when Ryan Stewart scored from close range.

Carnmoney kept battling and two quick goals saw them leading at the break.

The second half started with Waveney pushing forward and it was Jonny Logan who levelled things from the penalty spot.

After that it was one way traffic as Waveney mounted attack after attack and further goals from Ryan Stewart, Ryan Corrigan, Jake Frew and two from Kyle Jackson sealed a comfortable if not convincing win.

Waveney finished mid table in their first season in the league and all the players can be very proud of the effort they put in.

Manager Colin Stewart would like to express his thanks to all the parents who followed the team this season in good numbers. The support for the boys is very much appreciated.

A special thanks from all connected at Waveney Youth also goes to coach John Clarke for all his hard work this last couple of years with the team. John is leaving Waveney to go and manage his own team next season and everyone wishes him all the best in his new venture. Manager Colin Stewart gave man of the match to Michael Balmer as he tried hard from start to finish as he always does.
