We can turn it around says Law

The club have now lost six successive league games and travel to the Oval to take on Glentoran on Friday evening.

Law, however, is positive that their form will turn round again and says the squad will continue to look ahead.

“They’re a good bunch and they will definitely bounce back, I can promise you that,” he said.

“We’ll have to refocus the players and look forward. There have been positives. We’ve had individual errors that we have to work on but as regards our system and organisation, there have been strong positives. The players know what we expect so we just keep trying to instil that.”

Bouncing back, however, won’t be easy away to Glentoran this weekend. The Blues haven’t won at the Oval in over 13 years – or 17 matches.

However, the last time the sides met, at Mourneview Park, the Blues dumped Eddie Patterson’s side out of the Irn-Bru League Cup and went on a six game unbeaten run.

Law is looking for his players to again up their performance and end their current run of defeats.

He said: “In four games against Glentoran since we arrived the club, we’ve won two and drawn one so our record against them has been pretty solid.

“We’re going there at a good time because the expectation levels are low. We’ll pick the players up during the course of the week, get things right and hopefully come away with a positive result.

“The last time our bad run came to an end it was against Glentoran. After this Friday’s game, we have two home matches and an away match all against bottom six teams.

We’re hopeful that a good performance, more than a good result, will be the catalyst to take at least seven or nine points from the next possible 12.

“If we can do that, we’ll be back looking above us instead of worrying about what’s below us.

“Glentoran are a team who are also inconsistent. They’ve got a few good results but they go through patches where they struggle. There’s a lot of fluctuation in personnel in their line-ups but they know how they want to play.”

In order to turn around their bad run, Law is predicting changes to the starting line-up that lost at Ballinamallard.

He said: “We’ll probably look to freshen things up a bit. We have to look at what shape we’ll go with. We know that Glentoran stick to a fairly rigid 4-3-3. Eddie Patterson doesn’t really move away from that.

“We’ll have to look at whether we sacrifice a front man and match that or play with a bit of courage and keep the front two. We’ll see about that during the week but don’t be surprised if we freshen it up.”
