The local lads thrashed Dollingstown 5-1 last Saturday but boss Ryan Watson has reminded his charges they must put in the same style of performance this weekend.

They welcome Newington YC to Crystal Park (kick-off 3pm) and, although Town sit nine points ahead of their opponents, nothing but their best will do.

“We can’t think we have arrived after one good result,” he said. “We’re feeling good and we’re feeling confident but we have to keep that going and make sure we get another positive result on Saturday.

“This week in training it’s all about preparing
for Newington.

“We have to prepare in the same way and make sure our performance is up to the same level. If we take our eye off the ball at all, we’ll be punished.

“I don’t see them as a lower team in the dividsion. There are so many clubs bunched around the same sort of points and it only take one or two good results to shoot back up.”

Town will welcome back Glen Waddell and Jamie Smith, who missed last week’s stormer at Planters Park, but will Watson find it difficult change such a well-performing 11?

“It maybe would be but at the same time, we’ll take into account players’ performances in training and the opposition and weigh things up. You just don’t know what’s going to happen during the week.”

The boss watched his side coast to what many called the best Town performance of the season last weekend but the boss wasn’t keen on taking much time to reflect.

He said: “It’s over now and it’s in the history books so we’re not getting carried away.

“We were fantastic from start to finish. Every player gave their all

“It’s nice to see us getting one over on Dollingstown. It keeps that run going and keeps our momentum up.”

Town did it without Stuart Thompson, who twisted his knee in training on Thursday and now faces a minimum of two to three weeks on the sidelines. Meanwhile, Town will this week assess the fitness of Conor Downey, Marty Buchanan and Adam Pedlow.
