We have plenty of positives to take, says boss Haughey

DESPITE throwing away their half time advantage, Town boss Ronnie Haughey says that there are plenty of positives to take from Saturday’s defeat against Tobermore.

“I felt we were the better side in the first half,” he said.

“We got our goal from a free kick by Matty McCartan which we had been working on in training, and at half-time we told the boys what they needed to do to hold on for the win.

“Unfortunately we were outlong by the long ball game and Davy Patton was proving to be a handful for our defenders.”

Haughey added that he has been impressed by the spirit in the squad.

“When Matty scored the goal I think that everybody to a man ran straight for the dug-out,” he said.

“Everybody is working hard in training and there’s a desire to do well. It’s good to see.”

On Saturday Town hit the road to play Limavady United. “Another result like the one against Larne would do,” said Haughey.

“Limavady have had a couple of defeats and will be out to prove a point. They still have a bit of quality too with the likes of Lee Patrick on board.

“So long as we keep our shape we’ll be fine but it’ll be a difficult one.”
