'We need to end season on positive note' - McClean

MIDFIELDER Ruairi McClean admits Institute are now relying on Loughgall to ensure they at least get a play-off with Donegal Celtic to maintain their senior status.

Currently sitting at the foot of the Carling Premiership table the Waterside men only have two matches remaining and realistically don't look as though they'll move off the bottom of the league, so unless the County Armagh men win their remaining games in the Championship, Donegal Celtic will be crowned champions and 'Stute will be relegated.

"Unfortunately we are now relying on Loughgall doing us a favour, by winning the Championship and then at least we'll be in a play-off with Donegal Celtic," he said.

"It's unfortunate that an entire season could all depend on a two legged play-off, but at the minute that's the best we can hope for. Although we have two league games left I feel it's all about getting good performances under our belt rather than points because points at this stage probably won't matter, which is disappointing."

The Millburn Primary School teacher, expects a big home performance against Coleraine this Friday night (KO 7.45pm).

"We let ourselves and John (Gregg) down with our performance against Ballymena on Saturday, but we have a chance to put that right against Coleraine this Friday.

"If you were a neutral at the Ballymena match then you would have thought they were the side needing the points to try and stay up, we just didn't want it enough and what's more annoying is that I think they were there for the taking.

"But Saturday's match is now gone and I feel we need to start focusing and end the season on a positive note and also have a bit of momentum going into a play-off if that does come about."
