We want promotion, says hat-trick hero Murray

A hat-trick from Ciaran Murray helped Larne to a 4-1 win over Armagh City on Saturday and now the striker wants to help fire the Inver Reds to the Premiership.

“We were all buzzing to get playing again after the break, we know what is expected and we all want to push on and go for promotion,” Murray said after Saturday’s comfortable win.

“We played well all over the park and Stuart McMullan coming back into the side gave us a good balance.”

Murray’s second goal against Armagh was a joy to behold. Asked if it was his best of the season, he gave the Times a surprising reply: “It was a bit of a fluke as I just swung my leg at it and it went in. I have scored better goals during the season but I will take it as I have set myself a personal target, which I am keeping to myself for now.

“We are now looking forward to our trip to Distillery on Saturday and if we play the way we did for the first hour against Armagh, we can certainly get a result.”
